Collection Fauth

Georges Fauth, cooper, collection – Sion. This collection was offered to the Wine Museum in 2015 by the city of Sion, which acquired it in 1987.

Curved planes to dig out the inside and concave faces of the staves.
Planer to plane the staves. The cooper works each stave using different knives to correct imperfectionss.
Large compass in wood, used to measure the diameter of the bottom of the barrel while it is being made.
Skimmer or adze used to trim, an operation that consisted of scraping out a small une petite bit on the inside surface of the two ends of a barrel, where the bases would go.
