Events, activities and publications
The Wine Museum offers a number of activities throughout the year. It hosts temporary exhibitions and organizes guided visits in French, German and English. It organizes hikes with themes, family days and works closely with schools.
The past linked to vineyards and wine production still holds many mysteries, the reason behind the scientific research carried out by the Wine Museum team. These ethnological and historic studies lead on a regular basis to conferences and publications.
The Valais Wine Museum ensures the conservation of a heritage tied to vineyards and wine production. It conducts interdisciplinary research, edits reference works (“Histoire de la Vigne et du Vin”, :Murs de pierres, murs de vignes”) documents the objects in its collection and develops mediation activities: colloquia, conferences, museum-school activities. Over the years it has become a centre of reference that meets the need for understanding and information about what is happening in the world of vineyards and wine production, the traditions and history of these in Valais.
Its activities are centred around four basic missions: conservation and maintaining inventories, scientific research, highlighting collections, cultural public education.
|Conservation. Conserving objects that serve as witnesses to present and past activities in the world of vines and wine.
|Cultural public education. To share knowledge widely with a general public in collaboration with our partners active in tourism and the economy. Also to work with schools, with the same goal.
